Laryngology & Voice
Laryngology is a subspecialty within otolaryngology. Laryngologists specialize in the treatment of disorders of the throat and larynx (voice box), including voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. Patients who require the care of a laryngologist are often individuals who use their voices professionally, such as singers, actors, public speakers or teachers. Other patients who seek laryngological treatment are individuals troubled by persistent hoarseness, airway stenosis causing breathing difficulty, chronic cough, or swallowing difficulty.
Dr. Mursalin Anis, one of the board certified otolaryngologists at Coastal Ear, Nose and Throat, is fellowship trained in Laryngology. Dr. Anis has advanced training in voice restoration surgery (phonosurgery) and using the KTP photoangiolytic laser to treat cancer and dysplasia with maximal preservation of normal vibratory functions of the voice box. He is trained in care of the professional voice and performs office-based procedures on the larynx.
Dr. Anis strives to improve the quality of life of patients with laryngeal cancer and stenosis, as well as voice changes, breathing difficulty and swallowing difficulty.
