Dizziness / Vertigo / Ménière's Disease
The term “dizzy” is used to mean a variety of sensations, from spinning vertigo to lightheadedness. Dizziness and balance problems account for five to ten percent of all physician visits and affect 40% of people over the age of 40. Dizziness is the number one reason for physician visits by people over the age of 65. It can be due to a variety of problems.
Balance is often taken for granted. The balance (vestibular) system involves a complex set of sensory and motor control systems. We can provide a full assessment of your balance system utilizing state-of-the-art videonystagmography (VNG) equipment performed by an experienced, licensed audiologist. Based on the results of the examination, the physician may recommend medication, surgical intervention or vestibular rehabilitation. Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized physical therapy focused on balanced disorders.
