Dr. Newkirk received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Brown University in Providence, R.I. Dr. Newkirk completed medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, and did his internship and residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at MedStar – Georgetown University Hospital.
Dr. Newkirk went on to pursue further training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, completing a NIH sponsored K12 research fellowship at the Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, D.C. and a clinical Head and Neck Surgical Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas.
Dr. Newkirk has authored multiple scientific publications and book chapters, and his work has been presented at numerous national meetings. He is a member of the American Head and Neck Society, the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, Dr. Newkirk is certified to consult patients that may be eligible for Inspire, which is a therapy for sleep apnea.
Dr. Newkirk has received numerous patient care awards and citations for compassionate care. He has been included in Castle Connelly’s Top Doctors, 2014 and has been highly rated on Angie’s List. Dr. Newkirk specializes in the management of tumors of the head and neck, as well as general otolaryngology.
