Dizziness - Vertigo - Ménière's Disease

The term “dizzy” is used to mean a variety of sensations, from spinning vertigo to lightheadedness. Dizziness and balance problems account for five to ten percent of all physician visits and affect 40% of people over the age of 40. Dizziness is the number one reason for physician visits by people over the age of 65. It can be due to a variety of problems. Coastal Ear, Nose & Throat in New Jersey can help.

Balance is often taken for granted. The balance (vestibular) system involves a complex set of sensory and motor control systems. We can provide a full assessment of your balance system utilizing state-of-the-art videonystagmography (VNG) equipment performed by an experienced, licensed audiologist. Based on the results of the examination, the physician may recommend medication, surgical intervention or vestibular rehabilitation. Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized physical therapy focused on balanced disorders.

"Amazing results- I have ear problems almost all my life (I am 76), including several serious surgeries. When I began getting a bit dizzy on a daily basis, I was sure it was a byproduct of my lifelong ear problems. I was really a bit skeptical when my ear doctor (from Coastal Ear, Nose, and Throat), after I told her of my symptoms, suggested that I get therapy. I made an appointment with Dr. Janine DeBrito of Coastal Ear, Nose, and Throat for an evaluation and she suggested a series of sessions to work on the causes of my dizziness. I honestly (at this point) had my doubts about therapy helping my problem.. Well, I was very wrong! I have just finished 10 sessions with Dr. DeBrito and my dizziness is virtually gone. She worked me through a series of exercises to improve my eye/head movements that caused my problem. I want to sincerely thank Dr. DeBrito for her caring and expert sessions; and also thank her receptionist Kelsey for accommodating me in my appointment scheduling."
