Dr. Kenneth Newkirk specializes in caring for patients with tumors and cancers affecting the head and neck. His background in both comprehensive otolaryngology and head and neck surgical oncology allows him to address these conditions with an understanding of the important functions involved, including speaking, swallowing, and breathing. He also treats adults and children for general ear, nose, and throat concerns.
Alongside his clinical work at Coastal Ear, Nose and Throat and local medical centers, Dr. Newkirk has been involved in head and neck cancer research and has authored scientific publications and book chapters. His work has been presented at national medical meetings, and he is a member of the American Head and Neck Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Newkirk earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from Brown University before receiving his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He completed his internship and residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
His training then became more focused on head and neck cancer. Dr. Newkirk completed an NIH-sponsored K12 research fellowship at the Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, D.C., followed by a clinical fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He is board-certified in pediatric and adult otolaryngology.
Dr. Newkirk has advanced training in the evaluation and surgical treatment of head and neck tumors. His expertise includes cancers and other growths involving areas such as the mouth, throat, voice box, thyroid, salivary glands, and neck. He also performs thyroid and parathyroid surgery and provides general ENT care, giving patients access to his surgical expertise for both cancerous and noncancerous conditions.
Staff was professional and friendly, office was ran efficiently even though very busy, wait time was minimal and physician was wonderful. Highly recommend this practice.

I showed up on time and was seen on schedule. Dr Newkirk did a thorough examination for the reason I was there. I mentioned that I was having trouble with one of my ears. He checked it out and addressed it as well. Once again I was quite pleased with my appointment.
