Dr. Vishaal Patel is a board-certified otolaryngologist with a particular interest in helping patients breathe and sleep more comfortably. While he treats a broad range of ear, nose, and throat conditions, much of his work at Coastal Ear, Nose and Throat focuses on snoring, sleep apnea, and other problems that interfere with breathing during sleep. He offers several minimally invasive treatment options for patients who need an alternative to CPAP.
Research and innovation have remained important throughout Dr. Patel's career. During his residency, he received an NIH Research Grant and the David Meyer's Resident Research Award. He continues to contribute to peer-reviewed publications and present his work at national medical conferences.
Dr. Patel graduated magna cum laude from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and minors in Economics and Biomedical Engineering. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2018.
Dr. Patel completed his residency in otolaryngology at Temple University Hospital. He later completed Penn Medicine and the Wharton School's Business of Health Care program, adding another perspective on how medical care is delivered and how patients move through the healthcare system.
Dr. Patel has a special interest in snoring, sleep apnea, and sleep-disordered breathing. His treatment options include Inspire® therapy, the Genio® implant, injection snoreplasty, and AirLift, giving patients several alternatives when CPAP is not effective or well tolerated. He also performs nose and sinus procedures that can address structural problems affecting airflow. As a comprehensive otolaryngologist, Dr. Patel treats other conditions involving the ears, nose, and throat as well.
